A little over two weeks ago I had a cold sore. It has healed since then, but yesterday i noticed a small blister forming on the side of my index finger about an inch below where the nail is.The blister is pretty small ( a lot smaller than the pictures I have seen of herpes whitlow), there is a red base around it, and there is only one blister right now. The area is fairly sore as well. I was wondering if this sounds at all like Herpes Whitlow or if there are other possibilities to what this could be. I washed my hands as much as possible after i put treatment on my cold sore, but it is possible that I didnt do a good enough job with that. I never noticed any cuts on my hand either while I had the cold sore.
Also this morning i used a pin to put a small hole in the blister. I squeezed the area and a red looking fluid came out.

I had a first sexual relationship with my current girl friend, and about 1-2 days later(both oral and genital), a quite large blister(about1/8 inch) broke out on my bottom lip and it caused a lot of pain when something contacts my lip (feels like touching the scar). I had a cold sore sometimes when im very tired, but it never been painful like this. I immediately bought cold sore treatment from CVS but it’s not getting better. The blister is gone now, but im having a small scar like mark on my lip. My girlfriend has nothing similar to my symptom on her lips, and not sure if she has a herpes. Is this the symptom for oral herpes? and is it possible that HSV transmitted from genital to mouth?(cause i heard that genital and oral herpes are caused by different types of herpes simplex virus)

I use L-lysine when I get a mouth cold sore I began getting them when I began smoking. They go away really fast and since I quit smoking I do not get them as often except under stress.

People with herpes: There is hope! Also, think of the incentive that researchers have. There is a HUGE market for curing herpes. 1 IN 5 MEN AND 1 IN 4 WOMEN HAVE HERPES. Think of the huge payout that would be for the researchers that figure out how to wake up the virus.

Science is constantly evolving. For example, my mother had stage 4 cancer and all the oncologists told her she was going to die soon. However, she took part in a new, scientific study at a unversity using experiemental treatment that CURED her.

Also, does anyone else have any optimistic or links to scientific research on herpes?

I’ve been trying to figure out if I may have contracted genital herpes for a few months now. I finally broke down and went to the dr, but she said it was too soon to tell, and said my symptoms weren’t typical of herpes. I’ve heard many people say that drs are very hesitant to tell people that they have herpes so I’m afraid she’s just latching on to the fact that I don’t have a “textbook case” which from doing research it seems that they vary sooo much. Anyway, the first odd thing was that the symptoms showed up 8-10 hours after contact. Then, they havent really gone away and its been 2.5 months. Is it possible for an outbreak to last that long? Or is it possible that I’m just getting one right after another so its just not going away? I’m not taking any meds or special diet or anything so this is without treatment. My symptoms of mild vulva/vaginal irritation and occasional itching seem to vary in severity (but I have experienced irritation in some form at least once every day), but the “bumps” (numerous small white bumps covering both sides of my labia and my clitoris) haven’t changed in appearance or gone away at all in that time. At this point, I just want to know what this is. Also, its not really the bumps themselves that hurt. They aren’t sensitive to the touch, its lower around my actual vaginal opening that hurts. I’ve looked around the area several times and there is absolutely nothing around where the area actually hurts. I considered hpv but everything I’ve read said that pain should not be a symptom.
